The Community Development Department is dedicated to the best possible public service and we are committed to serving our community in a professional and ethical manner.
The Community Development Department provides the overall management and coordination of the various community development functions: Planning, Floodplain Information and Code Compliance.
PLANNING services essential to all different areas and neighborhoods of the community and the surrounding urban growth area are provided by Community Development. Planning guidelines and the implementation of programs and services ensure we have great neighborhoods, an exciting and thriving downtown, and a community that is attractive and environmentally pleasing for us to live, work, shop play and enjoy. The Department staff can assist with many different development issues including Downtown development and assistance with business retention and expansion.
FLOODPLAIN INFORMATION is available at the Community Development Department. There is a Certified Floodplain Manager on staff, as well as various resources and information regarding the location of the floodplain. Additionally, The Community Development Department is a Community Rating System (CRS) member, which helps reduce flood insurance rates for residents in the City of Roseburg. THE CODE COMPLIANCE Officier helps ensure the community maintains its attractive, safe and healthy physical environment. The Code Compliance Officier provides a variety of services, most of these focusing primarily on building code and public nuisance complaints/inquiries.
