Douglas County extends from sea level at the Pacific Ocean, to the 9,182 - foot peak at Mt. Theilsen, in the Cascade Mountain Range. The county is roughly the size of Connecticut, stretching 87 miles north and south, and 172 miles east and west. Rivers such as the world famous Umpqua and Coquille Rivers meander east to west through the Roseburg area and Interstate 5 extends north and south through the center of town.

The Roseburg Police Department is the largest municipal police agency within Douglas County, and we are also the county seat. The police department currently employs 37 sworn officers and 4 civilian employees.
The department is organized into divisions according to primary responsibilities which include Patrol, Traffic (motorcycles), Investigations and Records.

The department is supplemented by a cadre of volunteers including Police Reserves and our award winning Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS), collectively contributing thousands of hours each year.
Services provided by volunteers include vacation house checks, parking control at events, bicycle patrol, foot patrol at shopping centers and downtown, disabled parking enforcement, abandoned vehicle removal, public presentations, case status contacts, fingerprinting and more.
